Artist's Description

Many paintings in this series look at boundaries in time and space. This piece uses pelicans as shapes traveling through visual space and also time. There are four different skies from different times of day over Trunk Bay, St. Johns. One of the quadrants is done in gray scales suggestive of the era before color photography. The pelicans circle (counterclockwise) in their traveling wave as they often do before skimming the surf for fish. The seagulls (clockwise) movement seems to emerge and then disappear through the red orange area. The outer (night) quadrant has the Southern Cross in the sky and the very bright fireflies found on many of those islands. There id a Blue Heron flying counter to the pelicans to help move the energy to the center. I think about shapes, forms and energy of realistic things much like and abstract painter.
